the shoot tips
more is better: Don’t bring your entire closet…but if you are having trouble deciding…just bring it! I will help you choose what will give you the most variety.
clothes: bring a variety of style and colors.
traditional – something classy – one long sleeve/solid color top, turtleneck, button shirt, jacket, tie…think 20 years from now….this is usually grandma’s choice…so be prepared to smile on these.
casual – what you love to wear…your style.
something different – fashion, grunge, fancy, wild…get creative.
identity clothes – sports, music, arts, dance, hunting things – hats, sunglasses, jewelry, shoes, sports equipment, guitars or instruments, sheet music, books, hunting gear, cars, motorcycles, trucks…anything goes!
white on white look: to get this fashion look bring a long sleeve white t-shirt or button down.
Be true to who you are.
details: pay attention to them…the little things can make a huge difference.
nails – apply a clear polish, french manicure, good excuse to get acrylics done. don’t wear a bright colored polish….less is more in this case.
makeup – wear it!… a natural look does not mean no makeup…in this case a little more is better…bring along for touchups. Do not wear foundation with sunscreen (it causes shine that will be hard to retouch) – translucent powder also helps with shine.
lips – moisturize…girls bring lipgloss…guys bring chapstick.
If you want to add a little drama….wear false eyelashes…make your eyes pop!
hair – don’t try any drastic hair changes before your shoot…but do freshen up your highlights/color….quick style changes are encouraged to add variety…bring hair accessories….guys get a cut two weeks prior.
facial hair – girls tweeze or wax your eyebrows…guys a fresh shave or if you have facial hair get some with and then shave for your mom’s “clean” face look. tanning – don’t overdo…a little color is good…watch for tan lines and sunburns.
blemishes – don’t stress…retouching will be done.
Bring someone – bring someone along who you feel comfortable with – mom, friend, sister….often it is just good to have a second opinion…to help you loosen up if nervous….to help you in the dressing room. Make sure they are upbeat and make you feel great about yourself. I might even need them to hold a light/reflector
